Post Compare Laguna 14" and Jet 16" bandsaws

I am trying to make up my mind between the Laguna 14 and the Jet 16. Can do a good deal on the Jet ($1500) but saw a piece of old hardwood fence post resawn on the Laguna and it looked like it had been through a planer. Very impressed. Didn't like the adjustment on the Laguna (no wheels just push up) and the ceramic guides looked a bit harder to set than the bearings on the Jet. Liked the foot brake on the Laguna. I guess the quality of the cut probably had a lot to do with the quality of the blade. I am a novice when it comes to bandsaws and would appreciate any info

    Thumbs up

Welcome to the intricacies, foibles and bedevilling ways of the bandsaw.

I suggest you read a couple of the threads above regarding re-sawing, removing drift
    and other adjustments for bandsaws.

Also read the thread "Alex Snodgrass". From all the information contained therein you will
a good idea of what constitutes good cutting on a BS.

Also ask yourself what size cutting you really want/need to do. In answering this remember
that, as with a lathe, you can cut small stuphph on a big bandsaw but you can't cut big stuphph
    on a small bandsaw.

    Now, homework time!!!

Thanks for the advice. I have read some of the threads and it looks like I have some interesting times ahead of me.
