Default Correct Blade for Correct Job and Old Rubber Tires

I recently damaged my big 18" band saw and learnt some hard expensive lessons.

    The damage
    • Broken bi metallic saw blade ( expensive )
    • shredded rubber tires
    • cut and brushed hands
    • Pride

Fortunately no one was injured .. Perhaps the pride got a dint...

    Why ?
    • Wrong blade for the wrong job - used a 1 1/2 inch missing tooth blade intended for wet timber on hard dry small round log
    • Didnt make.a safe holder for timber when sledding thru
    • Didnt do maintenance on tires - old and crazed.
    • Didnt release pressure on blade when not in use for a long time

    Most of the problem was ... I just didn't think .. A doo-fuss.. !!

since then I have learnt a lot ... Isn't that always the way !!!

    Hi,
Some people are lucky and miss the mistakes, others learn from the mistakes of others, but for the lesson to really stick you need that personal experience.

And welcome, with any luck some other members will share their mistakes for easier lessons.
    Regards
    Hugh
