Smile Delivered today - Laguna LT18 3000 - positive review

    Hi all,

I just want to pass on my positive experience in purchasing my Laguna LT 18 3000 bandsaw...

I spent months researching the different Bandsaws that are sold in Australia. I read and watched countless reviews as well as personally inspected the machines. Whether or not it was the right choice, the decision was made. I decided to get a Laguna LT 18 3000.

During my quest I went to have a look at a Leda bandsaw at Des Elliott Machinery Sales in Ballarat, Victoria. I mentioned I was comparing it to a Laguna. I was told they could get one for in for me. I eventually ordered one.

The Laguna Bandsaw was assembled by Des Elliott Machinery Sales, Service and Repairs. As arranged the machine was delivered today - Saturday. I had asked if he could hang around so we could try a blade in it, just to make sure there were no vibration issues. Danny was amazing, he took pride in delivering a well assembled machine and was happy to hang around to make sure it all worked well.

I have no affiliation with Des Elliot Machinery Sales. I experienced honest, true good old fashioned service. Apparently Danny also specialises in power tool repairs...

    Very happy!

    Tanya.

    Tanya,

    Congratulations!

I too had a positive experience with my Laguna 14 " SUV, although I needed to assemble it myself and the first two blades were duds.

But as soon as I got a good re-saw blade on it, the darned thing hummed through timber 350 mm deep. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

    Have fun!

    John

Great to hear that you've got such a good supplier there Tanya and that the saw has worked out so well.

I wonder if I could ask a favour? Could you have a look at where the top blade guide post/pillar and the hole at the top of the upper wheel compartment where the post/pillar should pass through when the blade guide is raised to its highest point. Could you see if the pillar/post sits centrally to the hole and maybe take a photo of it. I had looked at a constructed one prior to choosing this saw and the sales rep' showed how the post raised up through that hole to provide maximum height for resawing, and from memory it was quite central to the hole, as you'd expect it would be.

I reckon my new one must have come in the same shipment as yours but mine hits the side of the hole (I've posted a couple of pic's here: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f27/laguna-lt18-3000-delivered-pleased-184858 ) and the frame is noticeably out of alignment. I've not been able to find any other comments anywhere on the web that identifies this problem with the Laguna so am assuming mine is an unlock one-off.

    cheers and happy sawdust making

    Hi All,

Congratulations to you too Albert, the Minimax S400P is a brilliant saw, you will love it!

Also Congratulations to you John. I haven't tried re-sawing yet, got to get through some work before I can play.

Sorry about your saw Larks. I went and had a look at mine... The post/pillar does not line up centrally with the hole, the clamp around the top of the post/pillar clips the edge of the hole on the way up. The post/pillar needs to be pulled forward 5mm to locate it centrally, at a glance it looks like it could be adjusted? If it cannot be adjusted this does not bother me enough to warrant pursuing it as an issue.

However... If my saw had that twist in it, I would be looking at having it replaced.

    All the best

    Tanya

    Hi

My apologies for my absence and late reply.

Alan, I believe the current street price for the Laguna Lt 3000 is $2,367 inc. GST Laguna - Buy Laguna Machinery & Equipment for sale Australia wide

Optional extras include the Driftmaster Fence System, the Veneer King Fence, a Mobility Kit. They also have the Laguna Resaw King Blade and Shear Forse Blades
    Product |

You can order your machine directly from the Australian distributor Gregory Machinery - Quality Woodworking Machinery Victoria |

Or Alan I noticed your in Victoria, our new Victorian dealer is Timber Tools and Machinery Sales Phone 03 5022 9556
    [email protected]

Or you could also talk to your local person, as I did, they might be able to get one for you.

    Best of luck.

As for blades I get them from Henry Bros. Saws http://www.henrybrossaws.com.au/bandsaws.htm They post them from NSW. Have never tried any other supplier.

    Default The Blades.

    Hi Tanya,
McDiven Saws in Williamstown,Vic are a lot closer.

    9 3971458,
328 Kororoit Creek Road, Williamstown North,3016

Same system, ring, give them the length & so on.
    Bought my last Blade 2375mm. long x 3/8 6TPI. $12.50. 14in.

This time they sold me a new German Blade, as they said it was easier to weld.

It is not quite as good as the Swedish, Hackesson,?? that I have been using for many years.
    Regards,
    issatree.

I believe this is the same model as the one owned by the Woodworkers Association of NSW at its Abbottsford workshop. It's been used by lots of people there, with favourable experiences

    Default Best blades

Congratulations on your new bandsaw. I was very tempted by those too and could see the quality looked high (apart from some examples). I ended up with a larger machine from MiniMax for a greater resaw capacity, that may be a bit over the top, though it is a very solid machine.

IMHO the best blades are all tungsten carbide tipped, if you get one you will never go back. I have two Lennox blades for my Minimax SP 500 US, the 25 mm tct resaw Woodmaster and the 12.5 mm Trimaster triple chip grind. Both from Henry Bros, very smooth and cut excellently. I understand from other posts on these forums that the Laguna tct blades work really well too.
