I need a drive belt
Hi all from sunny Macedon (VIC)
I have just bought my first band saw it is second hand and it needs a new drive belt for it could anyone in Melbourne tell me where I can get drive belts for band saws.
The saw is a TTI 2 speed band saw Product No EBASM312-01 with a 800w (1hp) Motor.
I have contacted Total Tools and although they told me it one of there machines they can't fined a parts list for it and I don't have a manual for it.
So I'm hoping that sum kind soul can help me out
Thanks and Regards Madyak

Hi, can't help directly info but can help with peripheral info.
There is a whole family of generic bandsaws from China with BAS in their model prefix. These are pressed metal framed units (rather than cast iron) are supplied by a number of importers and retailers. The 312 relates to the wheel size of the unit, in this case 312mm or around 12in.
I have found the unit listed in an undated TTI catalogue and compared features to a Hare and Forbes unit which seems to have very similar features and capabilities. Does your unit use a flat belt or a V belt. There is a spare parts section in a link on the H&F page which shows a poly flat belt for their unit. If yours uses a flat, they would be a good place to start looking.
I have a Triton TRBS12, which is similar but variable speed rather than 2 speed (Essentially the BAS 3h in the H&F web page). From memory this uses a V belt, not sure, but can check and measure or get the belt size from it if it will be usefull to you.
Welcome aboard, hope this helps get you going, an come back if you want me to check out the belt in the Triton.I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

Try contacting CBC Bearings (website), they helped me out of a similar situation a while ago.

Hi
I had a look at the Hare and Forbes unit and the belt look to be the same or very close a POLY V BELT with 4 ribs.
I'll give it a try. The belt that was on the saw is so deteriorated it's hard to tell thanks for the lead the H&F saw is almost identical to the TTI one.
Thanks Madyak

Glad that that started to help you. There is a part number for the belt in the parts list on H&F site, but I am not sure if this is a saw manufacturers p/n or the belt makers item number, but if you grab the number and google it you might get an answer. If a pelt makers item number, you should be able to get them via bearing supply or industrial supply businesses, though it may be on an order basis rather than over the counter.
