Default drive belt has come off

I have had this Hammer N3800 since new for a year or two and it has had little use but has worked well. I just was cutting something and the blade stopped turning. When I opened it up I noticed the belt had come off.

I put it back on centred on both pulleys but when I turn the wheels it half hangs off the bottom pulley. I don't know anything about mechanical stuff but I'm guessing I need to move the small top pulley out a bit to get them aligned.

I would have thought that was all sorted from the factory, and I can't imagine anything has moved. Maybe it's been like that the whole time, just half overhanging the edge of the large lower pulley belt 3.jpgbelt 2.jpgbelt 1.jpgwheel? The blade is running nicely centred on top and bottom wheels. I was only cutting 18mm plywood sheet so no load, and I've cut much bigger pieces with no problem.

Anyway I thought I should ask for help before I start blundering about in there.

    TIA, Peter

Well I guess it was obvious but the allen key holding the top pulley had come loose and appears to have slid back towards the motor. So I slid the top pulley out about 5mm and tightened the allen key and belt now tracks neatly in the grooves as per photos. I hope it's OK to have the pulley extending slightly beyond the drive shaft, as shown? Please let me know if anything looks wrong.

It looks like there is plenty of meat left to hang onto the shaft so you should be fine. It might pay to check the security of some of the other bits and pieces. Motor mounting, wheel mounts, table/fence.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Thanks, NCArcher, I'll give it the once over. Finished off the bit I was cutting and all went well.
