    Default Durden B1200 bandsaw

Hi guys, I finally found a Durden B1200 bandsaw yesterday, and as usual it needs work, but not too much. Firstly there are no tyres on it, just running on the wheels, but I have them ordered now. The blade is ok, but it could be better. The correct blade length is 2026mm, the closest I can find is 2000mm or 2086mm, does anyone know if either will be ok please?

There are many blade suppliers that will make blades to suit your saw. I have got good service from Henry Bros , who will make blades to suit your needs.
I am sure there would be a supplier closer to you that can do the same.

Default some questions re your durden b1200

    Rob,
i have assembled a b1200 from the parts taken from two saws. My project has stalled because i don't have an appropriate motor. i am looking for an australian made motor. i purchased a blade from henry brothers to length specified in burden manual.
What brand/model electric motor are you using?
Where are you sourcing your wheel rubber tyres?
What thickness of timbered do you expect to cut with the durden.
    regards

I am using the motor that it came with, I have not looked at it in any detail yet, but it seems to be ok, I will post here when I know more.
With the tyres, i found a place in Queensland that has them, but $50 each plus shipping was more that buying on ebay from the US including shipping.
I won't be cutting anything over 45mm, I wouldn't think, it will serve my needs well.

Good luck with fining a new Australian made motor. GMC used to make them but I believe these are now "Made to Australian Specifications" which usually means made offshore. You might be able to find a used one. Brook Crompton Betts/Fasco are another brand worth considering.

These days electric motors and motor parts come from all over the place. i have an Italian cousin that makes small electric motors and his Motor casings come mostly from Bulgaria, the armatures and rotors are made in Hungary. Other parts come from Romania. All he does is assemble and test them and sometimes adds custom electronics such as variable speed.

For a budget solution try Conon motors. They should last the lifetime of something like a bandsaw in a DIY situation.

DOC030521.pdfI have an update on not the machine itself, but a PDF manual on it. I got in touch with Jim Durden, he has kindly sent the PDF manual to me, I'm not sure of the best way to make it available to anyone interested yes, but it is a start. I have attached it in PDF form above, and it works for me, if anyone has any issues, let me know, and I will try another approach.

    Default Darden b1200 bandsaw

Rob, thanks for posting a PDF of the b1200 manual. It identfies a lot of essential data for me. I will probably cease hanging out for an Australian made motor and order from Condon.
