    Default Dust Blower

Hi All, just wondering what your thoughts are on hooking up a small dust blower unit, I've read about scroll sawers having good results from using small aquarium fish air pumps, they can also be hooked up to run through that flexible lubrication line you see on lathes and metal cutting equipment some times.

Anyway just a thought, the bandsaw does have a couple of big dust extractor ports below the table which will help, was just thinking it would save the need to blow the dust out of the way when cutting down a line...

Of course extracting the dust would probably be even better, but possibly not as easy.

The DC ports on bandsaws are near useless for catching sawdust at the source of the cutting action. The most effective thing that can be done for capturing the dust is to jam a flexy duct directly underneath the table near the blade guides. In terms of sawdust on a cutting line when it's a problem this is how I deal with it. I use 3 x 4" flexies to grab the dust. The one on the line, one jammed under the table and one on the bottom of the cabinet. I don't use the one on the line all that much as it gets in the way of seeing the blade.

That's great idea! I think that will work.

    Hi,
Dust on the line on a band saw is not as much a problem as on a scroll saw, as the blade only goes one way and does not go up and down bringing the dust with it.
