    Default Dust port oddity

I picked up a second hand Leda BS-350 for a song and am in the process of getting it set up.

Does this dust port shroud serve any purpose other than to dramatically reduce airflow? If not I'll cut it out.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think they use this plate in lieu of a grille or grating to prevent pieces of wood being sucked into DC systems.
A standard DC impeller will just mince the small pieces of wood that can get through a 4" port anyway so removal is not that big a deal and will dramatically improve air flow

Thanks Bob, i cut it away today and it has indeed made a huge difference in the bottom cabinet. Funny story, the previous owner never used a DC, so just cut a large hole in the bottom for the sawdust to fall out of. Works fantastically as an air inlet now!

Now i just need to figure out a way to catch the dust that doesn't get into the cabinet and ends up on the table and all around the lower guides.
