Elektra Beckum BAS 450 WN
Looking at one of these for $650.00 2nd hand
Apparently has the next size up motor bas 500.
Are they a good machine??
Is it worth it seeing as the carbatec top range 14" is not that much dearer brand new??
I realise the EB is a 16" but 14" would be adequate
thanks.ray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Ray,
I got a second hand EB 316 a couple of weeks back. With some new blades and a bit of messing around, it is working a treat. Not as nice as some I've seen, and missing a few things I would have thought were important (like a tension gauge or dial or some way of measuring it other than the twang), but the wheels are coplaner, bearing guides stay aligned when they're moved down or up, and good results so far.
I'd suggest getting The Band Saw Handbook by Mark Duginske. A great reference.
Tex
