Default Ezy Cut Bandsaw in need of TLC

I have just spent the last few days cleaning Dads garage. I have swept I have vacuumed and repeated and i still can't get 30+ years of accumulated dust, dirt, & sawdust out!

However under it all I have made some discoveries! I have a large wooden box of old planes, one is even new in box (Grand Fathers), a Durden Junior Jointer (Great Uncle), and an EzyCut Bandsaw (mine picked up some time or other from $100 and forgotten about).

There are no blades, no tyre on bottom and a old bicycle inner tube for a top tyre.

I thought the Knobs were Bakelite but they appear to be plastic. One has been broken and I think epoxied together.Exycut_3213.jpgEzycut_3188.jpgEzycut_3189.jpgEzycut_3191.jpgEzycut_3193.jpgEzycut_3194.jpgEzycut_3196.jpgEzycut_3197.jpgEzycut_3198.jpgEzycut_3199.jpgEzycut_3200.jpgEzycut_3202.jpgEzycut_3203.jpgEzycut_3204.jpgEzycut_3206.jpgEzycut_3209.jpgEzycut_3211.jpg

The cast alloy clamp on the fence has a fracture, also can anyone tell me what kind of knob or bolt it should have.

The table has a slot cut into it which isn't even close to being straight (90* to edge). Again can someone tell me how it is supposed to be attached. Mine just has a bolt with a stack of washers epoied to it and it doesn't lock in place.

Would like to clean it up and get it going with a view to restoring it for light work.

Any observations, comparison photos, manuals, references, etc all highly welcomed.

I hunted for polyurethane tyres for my EzyCut in Oz but couldn't find a supplier, ended up going to Peachtree in USA as they were the only ones I could find who had them & were prepared to send international.

My saw is the same as in the other thread, it was complete, in good nick & working when I made a sympathy purchase from a workmate who was made redundant. Turned out to be a handy little saw.

Mine does not have the rear wheel covers on either wheel, has wing nuts on front covers, the azimuth mount stuff I could check for you, I wouldnh't worry about the switch ass'y unless you want it to be original with the safety warning.

Thanks for the responses would it be possible to get some photos of the part that goes inside the rocker of the table and what the bolt or knobs is that fits in. Some measurements would also assist.

Do you happen to know the size or part number you ordered from peach tree?

Default Trunion mount lock plate / clamp

Mine also has the top & bottom front covers attached to the LHS blade guard & for some reason has a small spacer block under the tracking / tension box, probably to fit a stock size blade length.
Couldn't get a photo of the missing part/s (curved plate) for the trunion mount in position, but took these for you. Plate is 50.5 x 38.5 x 6mm with an approx 2.5mm curve to the U/S of the curve, threaded hole is centred both directions.

Thanks Moby that is really helpful.

I was thinking to make a pattern and sand cast one but if it only has 2.5mm curvature in one direction, I may just press it out of plate.

No worries, shouldn't be to difficult to knock up one yourself.

I have pretty much finished the resto on the Dawn Post drill and am now moving my attention back to this. I had a lot of trouble finding my own thread would you believe it!

So I'm looking for tires, I was told in another thread the urethane ones can't be crowned so the wheels must be crowned. Does anyone know if the wheel are already crowned? Mine are still covered in gunk.
If they are not then I guess rubber tires are in order.

What is the specs for the blade. I don't have one to measure.
I think CT blades won't make the small radius for the wheel and are suited for 21" and up, but Bi Metal blades may be a good option.

Does anyone have a copy of the manual that they can scan??

Ok I have stripped the old tires off, almost finished repainting and made a replacement trunion mount lock plate.

Before reassembly I was wondering about lubricating the bearings. I was going to whack on some bearing grease when I thought about the little holes in the casting which are I believe oilers……I assume this means no grease and a good oil? Anyone know what type of oil, how often? Would bearing grease be a substitute?

Still have to order some darn tyres and blades. Think I will get the blades off that mob in williamstown once I figure out the size, the tyres from most reports need to come from usa via internet.

I think the bronze bearings just like a bit of oil. Henry Bros for band saw bands/blades. (often wondered why we call them blades on a bandsaw??) Will post the length of mine, just have to dig out the last tag.

Yeah the size be appreciated. Any suggestions on blade width and good tooth size for a 14" Obviously not going to rip large timber.

I also noticed that the main body on mine doesn't have the hole as an oiler above the bronze bushing. I did see it in others photos though.
