G'day
Another question
I now have the bandsaw and am in the process of assembling it
I have been reading the booklet and looking at the fence
This link and go to picture 3 http://www.machineryhouse.com.au/W4224
What is the function of the smaller ( 300mm ) long piece attached to the main fence by 2 cuphead bolts and wingnuts ?
And isn't the fence on the wrong side of the blade ?

if you were to try and rip 20x20 strips from a 100x20 board, you would set the fence to 20mm away from the blade, and the guide post to be slightly above the timber surface (~25mm above table). but if you did that the fence would get in the way of the guide post, or vice versa. that small auxillary fence can be used for this example. for thin and skinny ripping, i just lower the guide post to be just above the big fence. there are safety concerns with this, unused portion of the blade unguarded etc etc...i just try "real hard" not to touch the blade when it is spinning
and the fence can be on either side. i put it on whicheva side will help me fight against any minor drift. I have major drift on mine atm, its the blade that came with it, a bit of spotted gum and brute force bent all of the set on the teeth to be basically zero set. a drunken blind man can walk a straighter line than this thing can cut atm
