Hammer N4400 Bandsaw
Hi All,
Just a bit of feedback on one of the early models of the Hammer N4400 saw that I bought last Jan - I put some more detailed feedback into the bandsaw forum that's buried way down the bottom of this page.
Overall the saw is excellent, not the same quality as a Meber or a Griggio full industrial unit, but not a bad saw at all. This is a re-badged Italian unit, according to others
What impressed me yesterday is that the saw came set accurately - I rip on the saw yesterday and the 45 degree detent is absolutely spot on - I was reversing material on the saw and you couldn't see the match up - the table is also set up to be square to the table, no need to muck around (at least, mine was set up accurately)
I was ripping 5" blackwood on the saw with a 3tpi skip blade and the motor just slowed down (single phase, 2.5Hp from memory.) As you know, blackwood's a fairly hard beastie.
The only real negative is that the dust collection on this saw is woefully inadequate at the blade - I had to jury rig a cardboard box to even get some dust collection where it matters. (There's a 120mm outlet at the base of the saw)
Just posting this in the main forum as a google search on the name of the saw looking for any comments brought up absolutely nothing other than this forum's comments when I was trying to get an idea of how this saw performed in service.
Done and (definitely) dusted, this saw is a good saw for a small cabinet shop, no problems at all.
Cheers,
eddie
