Hammer N4400blade skewing up
Hey Guys,
Yet another N4400 post.
I have just recieved the newest version of the N4400 with improved looking glass in the top wheel cover (works so much easier to track blades) and so called new reinforcements to stabilize the bandsaw and reduce vibration.
Any of you guys have pictures of the previous models (built pre- august 2013) taken with the wheels off to see if there are any design changes and to see if your welds are as sloppy as mine? My pic's will follow.
Sad to say, Felder/Hammer has not improved their allignment issues of the bandsaw concerning blade tracking.
My bandsaw has flat tires as well and runs with the teeth sticking over the lower wheel.
At the moment I am trying to get it alligned properly.
I got it alligned at the point that the blades from felder ran like a dream but the Resaw King I purchased new a week ago always drifted to the right skewing up the workpiece instantly and pushing the blade to the right more and more. Even when I was sawing 4mm pieces and whith fence alligned.
The other thing bothering me is that the carriage for the upper wheel (closed U-shape profile with welding at bottom) is fitting really sloppy, I can move it like 5 or 6mm to the right and left when the blade is off.
Waiting for reply on my mail to the guys at Felder/Hammer as well.

Bottom Wheel Alignment
Are you talking about general tracking on both upper and lower wheels?
If you go to the first post in this link I've included a diagram of the steps for bottom wheel adjustment. I'm assuming your model is the same? I purchased my BS earlier this year, pre-August, did not know an improved model was on the way. My viewing window though is pretty good for tracking and adjusting the top wheel.
Some pics of your version would be helpful.

Well, I fiddled a bit around with the tracking on both wheels and when I have both coplanar the bandsaw still tracks the same (lower wheel sawblade teeth sticking out) I've found out that the lower wheel is 2,5mm inward than the upper wheel, sadly enough the guys at Felder in my country (Belgium) do not have shimming plates, so I am on my own here and have to turn a sort of thick washer type as a shim.
For some reason a salesman told me to track the teeth both upper and lower out of the wheel so only the backing is supported.
In my opinnion this looks a bit odd, especialy when mounted a small blade (also when I put on a small blade at the front of ther wheel, it does not get any support at the bearing supporting the back of the blade.
I've been learned to track a bandsawblade with the gullet of the teeth in the centre of the wheel with crowned tires (what this bandsaw does not have).
Another thing, the tires are not glued and have play of about 1mm...
