    Default Hardwood Bandsaw Guide blocks

Anyone ever tried this method with making Hardwood bandsaw guide blocks? Soaking the blocks in WD40, which provides some lubrication for the blade.

I tried it years ago but wasn't happy with them.
I tried using Redgum then Ironbark.
(Mighta also tried grey box as I had that too but I've forgotten)

I notice the website said he used cherry saturated with wd40 (which is near enough to diesel)

Maybe the redgum/ironbark might work soaked in diesel.
I soaked mine in engine oil for a few days. But they wore out real fast.
    Not worth the effort.

Ended up making some metal ones (brass I think but might be steel)
Shows how often I look at the bandsaw guides themselves.

    I'm going to try these:

I think that the heat treatment must harden the cell structure and 'lock' the oil in?

Let us know how you go, particularly with the micro-wave part of the process.
