Default Help with choice of bandsaw.....I know this has been done a thousand times before.

Hello to everyone, This question has probably been asked asked before but I need to re cut some logs ( has already been split ) but they're
to long, it's only firewood so am I right in spending $700 + on a bandsaw just to cut up firewood ?? It may be used on "timber" when the "big" shed arrives but I believe the "firewood " (messmate and red gum ) won't be to kind on the band saw.

    Any help advice kindly appreciated.

    Tom.

A chainsaw is sort of a bandsaw... And better for firewood I would think.
But, a bandsaw is probably a lot tamer /safer. You might wear a blade, but they are pretty cheap.
If you want blocks less than 14", a cheap generic second hand saw ought to do. Probably 2-300?
