Hitachi CB75F
Hi,
I've just picked up a Hitachi CB75F bandsaw. It is in fairly rough shape as it had been stored outside (covered with a tarp) by a previous owner. Everything seems to move. Hoping with a good tidy up it will be a good machine. Does anyone have experience with them?
Thanks Marty

Hi Marty,
Was that the one on the Sunshine Coast by any chance? I thought about it and even made enquiries but was just too far (Tenterfield) and too many projects to finish as it is.
I don't have experience running them or any experience with the CB75F but a friend and mentor has a CB100F that I have seen in action and if it's as good as that saw you will be pleased. Flies through full cutting depth hardwood as fast as you can push it without even breaking a sweat. I suspect these machines are probably meant for power feeding so it's nearly impossible to overload them by hand feeding.
I suspect the three-inch wide bands are frighteningly expensive but shouldn't have to buy them very often and can be sharpened numerous times or could be converted to narrow bands. I would be hesitant though as I think there is good reason why Hitachi designed these machines the way they did.
Anyway good luck. Hopefully nothing is too bad after being left outside – keep us updated if you get the chance, would be great to see what it's capable of.
Kind regards, Tom

Didn't realise they were such a big beast until I read Tom's reply and he referred to the blade width. I thought it was just a normal hobby size machine. I assume this is the type of machine you have. Should be nice when you get it up and running.

Thanks for the replies, it was for sale on the sunshine coast.
Done a bit of tidying up on it and powered up, seems to run pretty smooth. Hope to get a new blade on it soon.
At some point the upper blade guide has been swapped out so no longer can run the original 3 inch blade. After some research I figure the cost was too high for the 3 inch blade. Found one in the US for a little over $300.
Its a very compact machine, table height is appprox 600mm and overall height 1400mm.
Couple photos of it.
Cheers Marty

I have a mate who has had one of these for a number of years.
Swears by it for resawing hard stuff like Rosewood and Ebony.
He has sourced blades but I can’t remember where from.
He’s currently building a dedicated resaw from scratch which when finished will be interesting to see how they compare.
