Instruction Manual
I have a Sonic N4050 14" bandsaw.
B####y book says blade 93 1/2 " (2375mm).Do not trust the BOOK!
So i order 3 very nice blades from Henry Bros
Guess What to small,
luckly for me Henry Bros Said" send them back with the old one so we get the right size.
They are the most helpfull people to deal with.

I'd always thought that it was the distance from the blade to the frame, however I just measured my Jet 14" and it actually only measures 13 1/2" :confused:
It is 14" from the frame to the outside of the guide block though.

Yeah, that's right. It's not the depth of cut as is often a misconception. It's the throat measurement.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

I was under the impression that the size quoted by the manufacturer (14" 16" 18" etc) was the wheel size. This is, of course, a next to useless measurement, just like the size of a shifter is given as the length of the tool (10" 12" 14" etc). When I want a shifter I'm not really interested in the length, just the jaw opening, but I'm guessing they use these dimensions as it's easy and sounds more impressive. In reality a bandsaw should be sized by it's throat opening and depth of cut, ie: 13/6 (or 325/150 in metric).
