Used Jet JWBS-14CS 14'' Bandsaw. Price check?
Am looking for a bandsaw.
Have come across one of these near new.
Any good? Initially recut some 75mm Camhpor for blanks
$400-$450
What did these originally retail?
Bargain?
Wish to cut thicker bowl blank in future. Are riser extensions hard to source if required?
cheers Bob

The saw.
Morning BobBavet,
$400 should pull it up.
The Allum. piece the Blade runs through, is a good indication on how much work it has done.
Riser Kits were available, not sure if they are now.
Were about 6in. - 150mm. higher = $100+ -???. + a longer blade.Regards,
issatree.

Bob,
It looks like a good saw for that money and has had good reviews.
As for the riser extension to cut thicker than 6'' there are mixed opinipns out there. I had a H&F saw of similar design to that and lookad at the riser extension option a few years go. Some said the frame flexes with the extension added and you also have to think if 1hp will handle 12'' of hardwood. After some ifs and buts I sold the old maghine and got a 2hp machine.
I guess you have to really ask what you want of the machine. Any big turning blanks I managed to trim with a chainsaw. The bigger cut bandsaws are really good at resawing wider planks and even cutting smallish logs into planks. However more than 90% of my wood cut on the bandsaw is still under 6'' thick. Just depends what you need and your budget.
Regards
John
