Kreg fence upgrade
Hi everyone
I'm looking to adapt this fence Kreg KMS7200 - 14" Precision Band Saw Fence
to my sherwood 14" standard bandsaw
it looks like there's some drilling involved
has anyone done something similar, are there any pitfalls or problems with this upgrade ?
cheers

Not too hard to do as cast iron drills reasonably easy. Offer up the rail and mark where the holes go then drill at a slowish speed and a squirt of wd40 to help things along.
Something to be aware of however is if your blade slot on the table is from the front then that will mean unbolting the fence rail every time you change a blade.

Shouldn't be any problems there as drilling the cast iron is easy but you might be lucky and the holes for the existing fence rail might line up. You can either tap threads into the table or drill straight through and put a nut on the back. As orroloon said, depending on where the slot for the blade removal comes out which from memory you brought this one, you will have to remove the fence rail each time you want to change the blade. I fitted a fence to a friend's bandsaw and he has the same problem where the rail needs to be removed.
Having said that, if you have the problem then it will already be there with the existing fence.Dallas

Should have looked at the saw model myself. My saw has a similar fence to that with the quick remove front rail. I cant see fitting the Kreg fence to that saw as being a forward move.

thanks Dallas and John, John not sure why you wouldn't think it a forward move, maybe there's a better option, I'm all ears
, I like the idea of a micro adjust
I have to take the fence off to change blades with the standard fence as mentioned so not such an issue

Its taking the rail on and off thats the issue. No argument the Kreg is a better fence. Your current one has the easy to remove rail like mine but you will have to undo a couple of bolts with the Kreg. I guess if you thread the holes and screw into the cast itself rather than having to undo nuts from under the table then its a bit better. Perhaps its just me but I like things easy.

kreg fence
If you position your 2 bolts correctly, you will only have to loosen one and take out the other. The rail then pivots down. Definitely thread the cast iron plate Laziness triumphs yet again
