Default Looking for part for generic Taiwanese 14" bandsaw

A part on my bandsaw has broken (where the red line is). It's cast aluminium. It's the "Upper Wheel Support Hinge Kit" and looks like this:

You may not recognise it but it's the part on the saw that controls the trim of the top wheel to keep the blade in its rightful place, it's located behind the top wheel. As you turn the knob at the back of the top wheel this part pivots on those two pins you can see and changes the angle of the wheel in relation to the vertical plane. The wheel mounts onto the dark coloured axle with the nut on the end. On the back side of the saw directly behind this you'll see one of these:

This is the blade tension guide.

The saw is branded Woodman but it appears to be generic Taiwanese and any similar bandsaw from this era will have the same part.

I'm having difficulty tracking one down. I've found a couple of sites in the US that have one but I'm still waiting on an answer to whether they're happy to ship to Oz. Locally I've found Gregory's Machinery have some in stock but I have to buy the whole assembly, which I'm loathe to do as it's $187.

Any help in locating one would be gratefully appreciated.

    Tony

    Hi Tony,
That's the identical part that I made up for Crunchie, he placed a wanted add in the Market place looking for one also. If you could send me the remaining parts I can make one also for you.
Will send a PM with details.

Hi Tony did they look after you on the postage rate i purchased a handful of parts for my Rung Fu drill press a few years ago $75 for the parts and $75 for postage, the parts could fit in the palm of my hand and came in a box but could have fitted in a jiffy bag easily.

Insofar as the postage being more expensive than the parts then yes you're right. But the price of the parts was quite reasonable so overall it didn't work out too badly.

I think we're spoiled because of the huge trade we do with China. I buy many things from there and now expect free postage for everything. But I think it's unreasonable to expect something to be shipped half way round the world for nothing. I used to think it was the US vendors gouging, but after doing some research I now believe that it's just the USPS recovering their real costs (which includes labour costs for both Americans and Australians). And like most big businesses they generate a lot of inefficiencies and those costs are just pushed down to us.

In this case the cost was $25.54. If I was to send the equivalent part to say Perth I wouldn't blink an eyelid at being charged $9 so I think given the extra distance involved it's not too unreasonable.

The thing that amazes me is that I can find the part at all. Remember this is a cheap Taiwanese piece of machinery that was made over thirty years ago. And I did all this without even leaving my desk...
