Magnificent! It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and being willing to love the old girls back into shape!

    Greg Q
I hope this gets to you...I know this is a really old post I am replying to.
I have a Meber SR600 and the top tyre just let go this weekend.
I am struggling to find where to get a replacement.
Do you have any experience or thoughts?
    Regards
    Gordon

A search of the archives shows Greg Q stating that the wheels are 24” and to contact Carter Products who have them in rubber. A search of the Carter Site gives this tyre.

    https://www.carterproducts.com/band-...24-rubber-tire

The Meber site seems to indicate the the 600 has a 24” “flywheel.” that is 35mm wide. The Carter tyres are approx. 44.5mm wide so I presume you trim them once they are on the wheel but as I have no experience, I will leave that to others to explain. They also recommend using epoxy on rubber tyres over 20” but it’s explained on their website
    Cheers

    Great. Thanks for that.
I had been going down the path of having vulcanised tyres put onto my wheels, by people who renovate printer rollers. This was a suggestion by a knowledgeable wood industry operator. I was not having any joy with that direction.
600mm/24"... I will check my wheel dimension, although with the 15-20% undersizing of the tyre, the diff between 600mm and 24" is not material.
I think I will buy two tyres, in the expectation that the one which is still intact will probably fail before too long.
Other points I will check before ordering from the USA are:
    1. Are their tyres crowned...if not how do I achieve that?
    2. My wheel has a small central groove. So I need to check if the Carter one does and if not, whether that matters. I suspect not, providing I glue it to the wheel well. Here is a close-up of the wheel groove...

Again, thanks for your input Lappa...it is v helpful.

    Regards

G'day! I'll just mention an alternative in case you haven't come across it - "Blue Max" tyres from "bandsaw-tire-warehouse" on eBay. They do crowned tyres and will custom make a size for you. I haven't used any yet, so this isn't a recommendation, but I've read positive reviews. I've been in contact with the eBay bloke over the last couple of days, and he seems keen to make sure I get the right product.

I'm currently rehabbing an old 14" Woodfast as a test project before I crack on with an SR600 )

Looking forward to seeing what results you get with whatever you go with on the Meber. The reservation I have about crowned urethane tyres is that you're relying on the wheels being in very good nick..

    Ben
    Thanks for that input.
I have made slow but good progress...this might help you when you come to do your Meber.
    I have 3 sources:
Meber direct from Italy: 1xOEM tyre for Euro30 plus Euro60 freight (I have asked if they have a less costly but slower delivery)
Bandsaw Tire Warehouse: 2X crowned urethane tires A$350 plus A$50 freight
Carter from USA: 1Xrubber tire at US$30 plus freight not known (probably A$50)
I think I should go for the original from Meber. It is not crowned but nor was the one that broke.
I will go for two tyres, but replace only the broken one. I will glue it on with my own epoxy.

    Regards

    Gordon
