    Default Old Meber SN700

    Hi All

I have an opportunity to purchase this bandsaw for $800

Its a very old Meber SN700.
    4HP 3 phase
    420mm height cut
    900mm approx width cut
    700mm wheels
    Attachment 324930
    Old School saw. Very solid.
It has good tyres and guides, except for the botton guide that sits behind the blade. It has a big mark in it where the saw blade has cut a groove in it.
No dust extraction. The saw isnt really enclosed,

    Thoughts?

I could really take a photo from the from the front as there was a bit of gear in the way.

I'm not familiar with Meber band saws, I like vintage big saws but I'm thinking $800 is too much for it .
Or maybe I'm wrong about it.
    Wish I could help.

I dont know the brand either but look at the cost of very large bandsaws. If you have 3 phase power and are handy at fixing things up then it has potential. You also have to think what you want to do with a bandsaw. That would be really great at resawing large timber (its almost a sawmill)but perhaps not able to take really fine blades for small stuff.
    Regards

    Default Meber Bandsaw

    Hi Legin,

Meber are an Italian brand that are highly regarded in industry for quality bandsaws. Over the years I have owned 2 Mebers (400mm & 600mm wheel dia models) and have been impressed by the build quality and performance. Without knowing much about the condition of that particular machine, I would say that the price is very fair. I have seen slightly more modern Mebers of that size advertised for up to $3200. But given the age and the fact that that machine may require some additional guarding, I would have thought that the owner could expect to get $1200-1600 for that one. If you have 3 phase power supply, a large workshop space and the equipment to move it, I think it is good buying. Just my 2 cents worth.
