N4400 Electronic Brake
A few questions of the N4400 club. How long does it take for the blade to fully stop when you hit the stop button. Please let me know if 3 phase or single phase. What noise does the motor make when you hit the stop button and for how long? Do you hold the stop button down until the blade stops (brake releases) or just hit and then release the stop button?
thanks for all answers Mat

Hi Mat
I press the red button, and the brake takes about 3-5 seconds to take effect (that is, it is immediately applied but the blades stops at 3-5 seconds). The motor continues its drone for about 10 more seconds.

I can't say specifically for the bandsaw but my Hammer TS (and spindle) has electric braking, it operates as soon as red stop button is pushed which is a momentary contact, I don't hold my finger on the button. With 3 ph this is done by reversing 2 phases to the motor (no actual brake) The braking phase continues to operate for about 5 or so seconds after the blade stops with a slight grumble until the timer stops timing. This grumble is OK although if the timer didn't stop timing it may be an issue

I have the 4hp single phase K3 comfort saw and it sounds the same as for the 3 phase. Press once and it takes over.
