NRA Bandsaws. Does anyone know them?
Hi there. I've searched for NRA and can't find much on them. A mate of mine currently has an NRA 3phase machine for sale. I reckon it's 1960's or early 70's judging by the distributors ph# on the side. It may be cast, looks like it in photos but I'll need to inspect it. 600mm wheels with 350H x 450w cutting capacity. I'm a guitar builder and need to cut 3mm veneers out of 1/4 sawn hardwoods by about 250-300mm. There is no fence, that I can see, and not sure how to calculate what width blade I can run on it. Can anyone help me with this at all? It's gonna be around the $1200 mark, and I was wondering if I'd be better off getting a woodfast Bs500 because its got its bits already on it, or really stretch myself financially and get a $2k-2.5k unit. I've tried to inform myself as much as possible but it gets a bit confusing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers.
Steve.

Don't know the brand, but it seems to me you would have to get it for a lot better than $1200 for it to be worthwhile. You can buy a pretty good new one with all the safety features, fences, etc etc for under $2000. Just my thoughts
