    Default NZ Dyco Bandsaw Questions

Hi, I have just bought a Dyco 15 inch throat bandsaw. Dyco was a New Zealand manufacturer for many years. The tyres appear in good condition but the guides not so good. The rear of the blade runs against the flat of a bearing, I wonder whether it would have originally have had a hardened steel tyre on the bearing? The side guides pass through a 3/8 hole, held in place by a machine screw. These are currently mild steel round bar. Would that have been the original material?
Thanks for any help, Regards Paul

    Default The Guides.

    Hi Paul,
I've had my 14in. since 1987, & the Blade runs on the Flat of a bearing. You could buy 2 new ones. Needs to be the thickness of a piece of Paper away from the Blade.
As for the Guides, why not just use a bit of Dowel, could put a bit of oil on it, but that is all I use these days.
Mine is about 3/8in. sq. The beauty is you just keep turning them around when they wear, or get some new ones.
    Regards,
    issatree.
