From what I can find, the current model is the SBW-4800CE and is only $1,549.00, so I'd haggle down a lot further yet or buy the current model or something comparable. It's 4 years old and I'd only pay half of the asking price.

If the price doesn't come down a bit, then I'd go with the new saw and its new saw warranty.

A lot of people seem to place little importance on warranty until they need it. Buying a used item that is no longer under warranty and is a superseded product, carries addition risk for the buyer and that should be reflected in it's sale price.Cheers.
Vernon.

Waldo, that is the price for the 17" - the 19" saw is $1769. The H&F version is $1650 but the Carbatec saw has a better fence and stronger wheels and a 5 year (verus 2) Warranty.
If the Carbatech saw has a 5 year warranty and it is a 2004 model I would definitely find out if the saw is still under warranty ( I think back in 2004 their warranty was only 3 years). If it is still under warranty - even if it's just a year its worth $1200 - put it this way - I would buy it.
If it has no warranty and assuming it is still in fair nick I would offer $1000 and then eventually maybe split the difference.
