    Default Quality Bandsaw Recommendations

My new woodworking career is going well so I'm after some recommendations for a good quality bandsaw that is accurate and will last.
Big enough for cutting large timber (maybe 18"..ish) yet versatile enough to use with thin blades for box making etc.. Will be used nearly every day. Also 240V
I'm not aware of anyone in the Newcastle area that sells quality bandsaws so cant check them out in person to try out so will probably buy online.
    Many Thanks : )

Having just bought one, my first suggestion is find a used one. If you can't shop around then...

Seek out the Italian design saws from Laguna, Agazanni/Panhans, ACM etc. WA dealer has one old ex display unit 20" Agazanni left.. But the freight will scare you away,

Not something you can easily buy online sight unseen, but if you wanted something "bling" that rates highly, a Laguna with ceramic guides and a driftmaster fence would be your starting point. Then it's a chunk of money for blades.. If you are using one every day, you'll want to factor in a few good resaw/curve ones at least bimetal and Tungsten Carbide.. Budget a few hundred there in consumables. Try Gregory's as they are on the east coast.

Any European saw, Felder and Minimax are two that come to mind. Grab a cup of tea and have a look at this....See the quality and capacity of MiniMax heavy duty bandsaws - YouTube

You can try Newcastle Industrial Sharpening for bandsaws. They will make anything you want.
I had the Carba-tec 19" for years and it was fine running 1/8th 14tpi blades and also the occasional resaw with a 1" 2tpi. If you use them a lot then the quick release is essential

Great thanks for all that will check it all out tonight and also give Gregory's a call as well.
I have been looking for a second hand one for a while with no success unfortunately, I have some photography equipment I wont need anymore so that should cover most of the cost anyway.
Was also thinking today how often would I really need a saw bigger than 14"?

What sort of photography equipment? I might have a buyer if you don't already have one.
Probably best to PM me and keep this thread on topic

Just a quick update, I ended up buying the n4400 bandsaw, have had it for a couple of months now and its going great!
I probably would have gone the Laguna however I didnt want to wait for the next shipment which was about a month.
Wasn't cheap plus we ended up running 3 phase to the shed as it was pulling to much power at startup
Setup was pretty good out of the box so immediately decided to cut up some 290mm silky oak that I scavenged from up the road. Was no problem at all!
Dust collection is average but everything else is cool. No quick tension release but takes all of a few seconds to wind the wheel up. Everything is solid and adjustable as well.
My favourite machine at the moment
    Thanks : )
