Default What is the most reasonable 14" bandsaw available in Sydney?

I am looking for a good quality 14" bandsaw preferably one that accepts a riser block. Has anybody had any experience the carba-tec 14" bandsaw with optional riser block and is so could you reply? Also could you please suggest one that you know of? I am looking for one that can resaw timber without a lot of hassle. All replies will be appreciated thank you.

Gasweld sell the toolex brand machine. I have this bandsaw, it is a solid machine with 1HP motor and 4 belt speeds. It is cast iron and can be split for a riser block. I believe they sell for around $650, i got mine for half that price through gumtree.

I got this one about 3 years ago. 2HP and takes a 10'' cut. I have cut the full 10'' in old dry hardwood so it does the job.

I reckon you need about 2HP for any serious resawing.

I don't have personal experience with carba-tec 14" bandsaw but I think the saw is just suitable in your needs. Carbatec 14"
is aluminum framed saw, it's not really a big concern but I just prefer cast iron . Its motor power and max width blade
is just fine. Your main concern should be the resaw capacity.

I just noticed a 14" H&F going on an external auction site - not sure if I'm allowed to name it here.

I'd skip the riser block and go straight for the Laguna 14" resawing bandsaw I saw at the Melbourne show last weekend. Best performance of a 14" bandsaw I have seen. Plenty of power an ddepth of cut.

While you are at Carbatec, or at least their web site, have a look at the new Jet bandsaws with the folded metal frames - JET were touting them as 'triangulated' and as being more rigid that the older cast iron 2 piece frames. They also have about the same re-saw capacity as the cast iron frame saws without needing to get and fit the riser block, and the possibility of the result being out of square.
