Well I’m back to square 1 again! I hadn’t seem my tracking advice upgraded after 3-4 days and was worried that my wife would be stuck with receiving it and getting it into my workshop. I’d asked them to let me know when it’d be delivered as I’d intended taking a day off.
Anyway, The short version is that I called and got talking about it only to hear that it’s not in stock and that they can’t tell me when it will be. after what was a pretty unsatisfying phone call, I got a refund. Despite that I notice that the same mob are offering them on EBay, with 2 available....
So back to seeing what is out there.

I bought it from a guy in Melbourne who bought it, new, from JC Walsh. But he’d never used it, never even took it out of the warehouse or out of the crate. 🤷🏼♂️ I like it

......And
I just got the following from BBTA
Sorry we don’t not have these in stock, we are not sure on when these will arrive into our warehouse as there have been many delays as this stage I will say not until March next year. I can put you on a interest form and call you when they arrive if you would like

I moved on and bought this Woodfast BS500. I like everything about it except that it doesn’t has the 3HP motor. But 2HP is plenty and until the 3HP came along it was like GT Falcon. I bought it locally and expect it to be here Monday. Here is a link Model BS500 (19") Bandsaw
ill do that review when it gets here.

Here is an interesting link. It is a Chinese company which makes Bandsaws, Tablesaws and all the other machines in our various workshops. They supply the wholesalers, badge them up to your requirements and send them to you in a container.
so, for US$300 you get an 18”, 3HP BS, with Cast Iron Wheels, all the decent specs (which you can modify to your liking) finished in the colour and brand name of your,m choice. The catch is, you have to order 100 or more and get them here.
It explains why a lot of these machines we see offered appear to be the same machine or very close and I suspect that next year, all the new range of models for Hafco, Rikon, Woodfast, Carbatec etc will all have the 3HP motors and the specs mentioned in the link.

It’d be pretty easy to envisage someone staring a business, coming up with a Brand name, a main warehouse in a Capital City, such as Perth, Sydney, Melbourne Brisbane, close to a shipping port, where locals could come and see the machines they are interested first hand, buy if they’d like etc. but more the point, sell through an online site and send them around the country at the buyers cost.

Woodfast BS500 has landed!
A partial “review” of the Woodfast BS500, more like my impressions so far.
the Woodworking Solutions guys (formerly known as Woodfast, back when they made the machines here in South Australia) delivered the saw themselves and got it into my workshop for me. Gave me some advice on unpacking and setup. So that night, a friend of mine and I got on with the job, basically tore down the box, fitted the wheel kit and attached the table.
First thoughts are that it is a very well thought out design and particularly well made. It is heavy duty, pretty much an industrial level machine. The bearing guides look impressive and the tension on the blade makes it obvious that it’ll cut almost anything.
the cast iron wheels are big and heavy and I have no doubt that they are an important part of the equation.
The trunnions that support and adjust the table tilt are also big and ruggedly built.
i haven’t run it yet, I wanted to clean up and once I’d done that it was late. So more to come.
