Default Replacement tyres for old bandsaw?

Hi everyone my first post on here, hopefully many more to come. I have been given quite a few old tools and machinery from an old woman whose husband passed away many years ago, amongst the stuff is an old bandsaw, has the name 'Pentagon' on the name plate, it is very solid and extremely heavy, the problem is both the rubber tyres that go around the two 14" wheels have perished. They appear to be an odd size, looks like they may be something like 15/16" in width, has anyone got any ideas where to obtain some replacement tyres here in Melbourne, or am I wasting my time and should I scrap the machine. Appreciate any advice.

    Welcome to the forums Drewie.

Had the same problem not long ago and came to the conclusion that it's almost impossible to get. In the end I used some bicycle inner tubes, works great.

Also, try McDiven Saws in Williamstown.

And IF you're going to scrap the bandsaw, DON'T, PM (private message me here) and I'll take it from you

    Drewie,

If tyres are not available as a stock item, I have used inner tube rubber quiet successfully also others use insertion rubber cut to width and glued to the rims(clark rubber).

Thanks for the suggestions every one, I might have to try the Clark Rubber stuff and trim the width to size. Last time I looked the stuff Clark Rubber had was 1'' or 25mm which is just a bit too wide.
