Another option is a horizontal resaw machine rather than vertical. Depends on what you're after.

Are you just cutting veneers and slabs? If so, maybe one of these, I'm considering one for myself, clamp the wood in place then cut, I have cut 1mm thick veneers on the bigger machines at a mates sawmill

I don't have a Fielder but do have the Hammer bandsaw which is made by Fielder. It took quite a bit of fiddling (and a good blade) to get it working right, but with a 4hp motor it will cut just about anything. Guitar backs and sides, no problem. The bandsaw does not work continuously and I don't have 3 phase power and could not justify the cost, so that ruled out the Fielder bandsaws. I can vouch for Fielder support. I had a young lad in the workshop who thought you moved the fence by bashing it and of course he broke it. I phoned Fielder and a replacement arrived in the post 2 days later.

    Default Banbury resaw

There is a 48 inch resaw for auction at Lidcombp TAFE tomorrow.
A few dealers have these and the way the large mills are going they should become more readily available.

Try a Trajan saw. There are a lot of horizontal model band saw with strong cutting performance! I think this is their site: utilitybandsaw.com.

    Not after this are you? ... 54" - 75hp - 6in blade

What width blade will the Felder take? I can't see it on the website.

Also ... I'm sure Felder means quality but those lower guides don't look inspiring to me.
I guess they must be ok for the job.
