Resaw jig required for bandsaw
Has anyone seen polans on how to build this resaw jig (attached). I can't work out how the sliding centre piece is held firmly position, and how the pointy end of the jig is kept exactly vertical against the workpiece.

Hi Dengy,
The sliding thickness gauge is held down by a bolt from underneath the jig and you can see the wing nut on top of it in the photo, and because it is made square to the table base it stays paralel to the fence,
hope that helps,

Crocy.

Thanks Crocy, I am looking to make one too. How would you do the big slot for the centre bolt?

Hi Jill,
While I have not made one of these, I think it came from "Shopnotes", but it could be cut with a mortice bit, or with a long router bit. When I made my Longworth chuck for the wood lathe, I bought a 50X6mm router bit from Carbitool, and did stepped cuts. Probably the easiest way would be to laminate 3 layers to get the perfect slot.

Crocy.

Sorry to hijack this thread, Dengy. Thanks for the info, Crocy, I like the idea of laminated piece to get the slot.

To me a better way is to use push pad to hold the work piece tightly against the fence.

In the end I was not satisfied with the jig, as the pressure against the fence could not be consistently maintained along the full height of the board and the way things could go wrong with it could ruin a good piece of timber, so I ended up doing what Wongo said. For the longer pieces it was a two man job, but turned out well.

Dengy
