Ryobi 150mm bandsaw tyre replacement alternative
Hey, I'm going around in circles online trying to find an alternative tyre for my Ryobi 150mm bandsaw HBS150L.
Would anyone have found themselves b this position and worked out which after market one would work?
TIA

Are you able to measure the diameter of the wheels? Even though it is a 150mm Bandsaw the wheels are probably larger than that. There are many 8" tyres available such as these and that may be what the diameter of your wheels are to get the 150mm throat depth. I'm not saying the tyres I linked to are the correct ones for your machine but it gives a starting point to expand what to look for.

Expensive particularly since they have to be sent from the US, these seem to be the tyres for that bandsaw.

Definitely try to measure the wheel diameter and buy locally if possible.
Good luck!

I doubt these will be able to be replaced for a realistic price unless Ryobi can supply them as a spare part.
An alternative might be cutting up an old car inner tube to make your own.
Possibly be able to source one from a tyre fitting shop for free.
Other way might be to glue on cork, that was used way back on bandsaws.
The Aldi bandsaw is about $100 new and I’ve seen them on marketplace for as little as $10.
I have one for after hours use and set up and used within its capacity it’s a good little saw.

There may be cheaper alternatives available on Aliexpress, but you need to know what size you need. Eight and nine inch seem to be pretty common sizes, measure the wheels and have a look on Aliexpress.

I used electrical tape. Still hanging in there. I dont expect it to last forever but it is no big deal to replace.

Yes. On these small saws there is no need to go to the expense of new tyres. Provided the blade is kept clear of the wheels with a non slip replacable surface it will work fine.
Dont get carried away with multiple layers of tape - it becomes too spungy. Good quality, thick electrical tape only requires one wrap. Keep the teeth just off the edge of the wheel if possible, this prevents the tape getting chewed out prematurely. Some saws require the blade in the centre of the wheel. If that is your situation you will require a bit more tape to keep the teeth off the wheel.
I only did this as a temporary fix when the original tyres suddenly went to god in the middle of a job. Never bothered to replace them as the tape is doing the job and much easier to replace.

I did 12” saw a few years back using that black tape wot sticks to itself and eventually becomes one piece.
Dunno what it’s called offhand.
I’ll have a decks in the shed might be some left.
