Samson Bandsaw
Has anyone here ever heard of a "Samson" bandsaw? I'm looking at getting a bandsaw but cant afford getting a new one at this stage. Was looking around at a 2nd hand shop and came across a Samson 14" bandsaw, I've never heard of the company but it looks pretty decent. According to the stamp on the label it was made in 1984, so it cant be that bad if it's still working after so many years?
I couldn't take a photo of the whole saw but managed to snap one of it's label.

It looks almost identical to the bandsaw in this link: bandsaw rockwell - Home Furniture for Sale - Housewares - Outdoor Equipment - Gumtree Eastern Cape Free Classifieds
Only difference is in the color and the top seems to be a bit rounder.

Does this one look like the one? It appears that searches turn up South Africa as somewhere they are still for sale. Don't know if that is where they originate from.

When the factory in Port Elizabeth stopped making Rockwell tools, they carried on using the same tooling under license, using the name Tauco as far as I can remember. The generic 14" Rockwell Delta bandsaw was copied by many manufacturers in Taiwan and later China though, and you'll find many similar ones sold under many different brand names.
Edit: Found the article on the Rockwell Factory in South Africa if you're interested: Rockwell-Delta in South Africa - VintageMachinery.org Knowledge Base (Wiki)

Interesting article, seems like the "Samson" is one of those Taiwanese copies.
