SIPA Bandsaw Information
I've just purchased a SIPA 600 Italian bandsaw off eBay for a very good price
and will be collecting through the week. Does anyone have any information on this brand???
I can't seem to find much info on Google but understand from GregoryQ that this SIPA is similar to the well regarded Meber 600.
Any advice welcome.Last edited by warmtone; 11th October 2009 at 10:38 PM. Reason: spelling error

Hi- sorry this is several years late as I have not been active on the forum for a while.
The answer is the Sipa is a great bandsaw once properly tuned. Mine needed a lot of TLC to get it to deliver its best.
Great 3 phase motor, massive bed and the 24 inch wheels - it is practically unstoppable.
I use a VFD to provide soft start and allow it to run of single phase 240 volts.
I prefer the fitted European guides to roller bearings on my Jet 18” machine.
They are a basic saw and have some limitations - table tilt for example is a PITA on the larger model with no rack and pinion adjustment.
But used as a standard saw the machine is smooth running and cuts are accurate.
I regard the Sipa in another class to my Jet 18X - also 3Hp - no flex anywhere.
The Meber is a very similar machine and very desirable. I think the Meber 500 size is the sweet spot allowing smaller blades to be used.
