Default Spare Parts for old 1401 bandsaw

I thought i would ask on the forum about aquiring spare parts for an older Carbatec 1401 bandsaw manufactured in 1995. I have replaced the capacitor, upgraded the guides to all bearings but foolishly wholst changing to a resaw blade this afternoon tried to adjust the tracking of the upper wheel whilst the blade was under tension.
There is a cast part that snapped off which is located behind the upper wheel.. I have tried to weld it using JB weld but I do not feel confident about it holding under tension.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

If you have any oxy or a large LPG torch, you could braze the parts back together, much stronger than JB. The only issue will be cleaning the JB off now you have it on there. Heat + acetone (probably a recipe for no eyebrows)?

The only issue with all decent repairs (i.e. hot repairs) is that they run the risk of distortion in the frame. Hopefully not too much if you keep the heat evenly spread throughout the cast parts. If you aren't concerned about the consequences, and it fits, heating the part up in the oven first can be a great way to preheat to avoid stresses and cracking.

I also assume your talking cast iron? Aluminium you can braze/weld back together with a reasonable sized LPG torch. Once again, taking care with the heat (it'll vaporise if you're too excited with it).

Alternatively, ring Carbatec. They may have a hidden stash of bits somewhere. The worst they can do is laugh.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to purchase a new part from Carbatec at only 20 odd dollars it was probably the cheapest spare parts for that machine

I've welded cast iron using stainless steel rods and arc welder with great success before. Pre heating of the iron is a good idea.
