Update:
No change. Still waiting for this morning's call, tonight. Didn't happen.
They didn't call back or acknowledge my email all day yesterday, either, so I had to ring them at 4pm, but was assured it would be sorted out today.
To aggravate things, my mobile is out of action right now, so I've had to spend 2 days near the phone waiting for call backs. (I don't have a landline in the workshop yet).
I'll have to push them tomorrow, so I can get some other things done. I can even use the bandsaw while I'm waiting, if I can only get into the shed.
I was going to buy a planer/thicknesser from them, too, but might go with the Carbatec one or find another, I think. This is hardly worth all the messing around and chasing up service/support if things do go wrong.
I find that in general, the best service comes from buying cheap rubbish direct from Asia on eBay. Because they're so concerned about getting positive 'written' feedback that can be viewed by future purchasers, most of them provide wonderful support, in my experience.... Steve

Still nothing.
I emailed them this morning, though, and told them to contact me by email instead of by phone when they have some information for me. I got to spend the day in the workshop playing instead of waiting for phone calls.
I'm glad I decided not to use it originally. I left it alone today too, and will until this is sorted out, in case it has to go back.
I've just got to sit on my hands for now, and wait. If I don't hear by Friday I'll pursue this further.... Steve

Friday, a week after delivery, and they're still messing me around. Have never acknowledged an email with a reply and every time I've rang them, I've been assured by George that he'll ring me straight back but he never does.
This time, when I rang, I was told he was on the phone right now, so they'd email him to let him know I want him to call me urgently. She knows he's on the phone, yet has to send an email to him???
Looks like I'll be taking this further, to a higher authority. I scraped hard to afford this from my pension, even to the point of not shopping this fortnight, and I'm lumbered with a half-usable bandsaw. This stinks.
I wanted to start cutting out the parts for my Model A today, but can't.
I'm getting organised to pack it ready for return.
Edit: OR
from the Fair Trading website: -
What if the supplier refuses or takes too long to repair the goods?
If they refuse or take more than a reasonable time to repair the goods, you can:
- take the goods elsewhere to be fixed and ask the original supplier to pay reasonable costs of this repair

I just got a rough quote locally. He needs to see it to fix a price, but said I won't get away with it for under $200. $40 each way for transport. (I have to arrange that separately. It'll be a taxi since I don't have a car.)
Total cost $280, not counting my time and messing around waitng for imaginary callbacks, (which I can't charge for, unfortunately, according to the H&F warranty).
I'll get some advice on how to go about this and presenting the bill to H&F correctly and then I'll contact them again tomorrow before I go further.... Steve

Seeing your making the Model A and a lot of that is freehand anyway.
What about cutting a slice up a nice thick piece of ply and then clamping that to the deck.
Should give you a reasonable flat surface to at least start on the Model A on.
Just a thought,
Peter
Edit: I sent an email to Hella (lights) over a week ago asking the difference between 2 sealed beam lights. Still no answer there either.
I gave them a ring and they are closed for stocktake, to a customer request? To ask a question?

Hermit!
Mate, you have been given the run-around. Take it higher at H&F and let it be known you are not happy with the response you have received to-date. You are the customer!!!!Russell (aka Mulgabill)

Yeah, I have an old sheet of chipboard here. I was thinking of doing that. Today I was planning to cut the chassis rails and need a square surface ideally. If I want to work on one side of the table then switch to the other, I need to adjust the table every time as it is, or try to shim the workpiece on the low side.
There's a pretty big issue with the upper blade guides that I have to look at, too. They're offset to one side. I can move them to other holes, then they're central but the blade runs on the very edge of the thrust bearing and tries to drop off. If I leave them in the original position, the LHS guide runs out of adjustment 0.5mm before the blade.
I wanted to check it out this morning, but H&F have had me in here waiting by the phone again, for no reason it seems.
A great introduction to bandsaws. I'm getting pretty pi55ed off at this stage.
I'll try to ring them again later, but if I can't get a straight answer I can legally go ahead with the repair without notifying them: -
When you take goods elsewhere for repair
If you have no choice but to take goods elsewhere for repair, you do not have to get the supplier’s agreement or provide quotes. However, they only have to pay the reasonable costs of repair.
A reasonable cost would be within the normal range charged by repairers of such goods, and include:
- the cost of the repair
- any other associated costs due to having the goods fixed elsewhere, such as transport costs.

I just spoke to Dean at H&F. Told him the full story, including how pleased I am with the service, (a couple of expletives may have slipped out, too), and insisted on a resolution now.
During the discussion, I learned that they don't have one in stock, have one coming for display but Dean tends to think they won't want to pull the table off that one.
I explained my option of getting it fixed locally and told him the cost. Also insisted on a call Monday to inform me of the resolution and time-frame for a fully working machine.
I don't mind if there's a bit of a wait for the table, I can plan accordingly, but I hate being left in the dark and treated like an idiot. Why couldn't George have filled me in, much earlier?
Dean promised to give me an extra store credit or some free goods for extra reimbursement, but as I said, I just want a fully operational bandsaw.
So, I sit on ,my hands until Monday. Meantime, I'm trying to resolve the blade guide issue. Then I'll make up a temporary chipboard table, shimmed on the RHS to make it flat.
Maybe some progress at last.... Steve

Sounds promising. I'm sure they'll come through.
I am ashamed on behalf of all George's though...

Perhaps now is the time to suggest that they swap it for a more expensive model to make up for all the continuing anger and angst they have caused you, plus the widening knowledge of this among the woodworking community. It certainly doesn't seem in line with their reputation.
Cheers,
Jim

Steve this maybe a silly question but showing the table and its bow with a 12" ruler isn't much to go off.
Is the table attached in both photos?
Have you checked the table off the mounts also?
Knowing the casting underside and mounting points which are cast is it possible one is slightly longer allowing the bow?
Could i be the mounting brackets maybe out?
Not judging your judgement just thoughts
