Thanks for info.
I'm very new to this forum, though not to woodworking in general and turning in particular.
When I first joined, there were posts mentioning Mark Duginske and his CD/DVD and his book. Sounded good so I looked for a copy to buy. Foiled at the one on e-bay I did a general Google and came up with - of all sources Tesco Books!
There it was pounds cheaper than the rest so I bought it there and then.
What a mine of information the book is.
I bought my Electra Beckum second hand a few months ago but disappointed because it wouldn't cut straight.
The book explained why. The thrust bearing was not at the back of the blade but had been moved to the side of the blade! Other little things were out of alignment so no surprise the seller wanted rid. Still, I got a bargain price No wonder I couldn't use it for any serious work!
So. Thanks to all of you who brought the book to my attention and to tell you (I have no connection with Tesco or Tesco books) the price was £9 -09 plus postage, brand new, and it was delivered the next day.
Glad I joined this forum you can bet.

Hi Docusk,
Firstly welcome!
Secondly, did you manage to get your EB to operate properly?
I have recently sold a 316G (for a Hammer N4400, mainly for resaw height reasons), but found that, with a bit of tuning, it was quite a reasonable machine.

and thirdly, for those who don't have access to Tesco, they are available to be purchased online from either Taunton Press, or from Amazon. Sometimes one is cheaper, sometimes the other.
I've got the latest Taunton Press DVDs (which I think include some more of Mark's work) coming from Amazon any day now."Clear, Ease Springs"

Hi Steve,
I'd be interested to hear your opinion of the Hammer N4400.
Cheers,

Sorry, I should have said, the Mark Duzinske book did come from Tesco online. I have now read it from cover to cover, and what a treasure house it is. I can't thank this forum enough for the advice. the DVD is still on it's way. have to chase 'em up.

I forgot to say earlier but the Mark Duginske DVD only arrived today.
It teaches or rather coaches but doesn't patronise the viewer.
I hate these videos that assume everyone watching has no basic knowledge of the subject. Not this one!
Tell you another good one, the one on the 'Chatter tool' from Robert Sorby. I won one of the videos from a competition in "Wood Turning" back awhile and that was the same, no talking down to you.
And before you ask, I do have time to watch videos as well as doing the odd bit of turning.
I can lift great heavy weights too, don't always remember to put 'em down tho' Uh? my broken foot? Doh!!!
