    Default Thin mitre slot

I have a Hafco Woodmaster Bandsaw. The Mitre gauge runs in a perpendicular slot which is approx. 8.75 mm wide. I would like to make some sleds that run in the mitre slot. I have cut some plastic cutting board and also some hardwood to run in the slot but they feel weak (because they are so thin) and the mitre gauge is made of steel which is of course much stronger and reliable. Steel will require a lot more work and I'd like to avoid that if I can.

If you have one of these bandsaws, what have you done when you create a sled or maybe I should create something that doesn't run in the slot, any ideas would be appreciated.

For my bandsaw, I went down with the Mitre gauge to the local aluminium extrusions shop (Ullrich in NZ) and found a bar that was the right width to fit in the slot. Had to buy 2 metres as this was the minimum length they sold.
I then used pieces of this bar for jigs that ran in the mitre slot on the bandsaw table.

Thanks Paul. My concern is that I won't find the correct profile for this bandsaw, what brand do you have?

I have a Carbatec 14" bandsaw and the mitre gauge slot is 3/4" wide.
I just went through all the bars in the aluminium shop until I found one the same width and not as deep as my mitre gauage slot.
