Timbecon TBB-14 vs H&F BP16a?
I've been visiting the Canberra WWS today. I was hoping H&F would be there so I could compare these two BS's. but they weren't. So I had a good go-over of the TBB14 and it looks OK to me - but I haven't used one for years and only had a little Inca before and did no resawing etc.
The TBB is a 2hp, 235mm depth, full steep version with tension reliever, 2 speed, 4" duster, rack and pinion riser and table angle, and generally looks pretty good. Since I haven't seen a BP16a, can anyone make any comparisons with these two? I'm hoping to get a good deal from Timbecon on a TSC10HB + ML392 + TBB, but if the BP16a is better then I'll wait and get that from H&F. They're about the same price I believe.
Thanks!
Robert

Hi Robert, You are looking at two different machines the BP16a is a 16" saw not a 14" the simlar machine at H&R is only $730 a price difference of $150, a lot of people on here have the BP16a and are more than happy with them, you would want a lot of discount from Timecon to go anywhere near getting a 16" from them...........Peter

Hi Peter,
Thanks. Yes, I know there's the difference between the 14" (TBB) and 16" (BP16a). However, the TBB seems much closer to the 16" than the normal 14" models. In fact, bar about 4cm extra depth, the BP16a seems to have little else better and (seems to) lack the quick de-tensioner. I got a deal on the TBB at the show with magnetic worklight and new blade + show price so I'm pretty happy (I think - can't tell until I unpack it all when I move house in 4-5 weeks ).
Regards
Robert
