Default What type of Bandsaw is needed

I have no idea about bandsaws, but I think I need one.

I do a bit of scrollsawing, and I like ply or MDF cut to the size of A4 paper.
My nearest buddy with a band saw lives over 160K's from me, so it's a rare treat to have him cut it for me. Would a small GMC do the job for me, or would I need a larger machine?

Never buy a machine on the minimum requirement as sooner or later you will want to do something more it is not capable of doing which leaves you disappointed and frustrated with the machine.
Don't force it, use a bigger hammer.

Timber is what you use. Wood is what you burn.

    Buzza,

Not sure why you need a bandsaw to cut wood into A4 size sheets This could be done on a table saw or with a little more effort a handsaw. A bandsaw for this need is an expensive option.

What else would you use it for?

I'm with Happy - a small table saw would give you more accuracy than a bandsaw ever can in straight cuts and a small 200 buck scroll saw may be better unless your resawing wide timber or breaking down large chunks in which case the bandsaw is unbeatable.

do not buy a gmcrap bandsaw they are not worth it.

i had one it would nt even cut 1" pine with a new blade.

y not buy a gmc tablesaw but even then it is hard to handle the large sheets i would recomend you get yourself a circular saw and 2 saw horses.

alright...i had one of those GMC's and they're not that bad...they wont track real well tho.

but, they're completeley useless for what you want IMO and even the bigger GMC wont even do you IMO

Thanks everyone, and it seems that for my personal needs, Weisboy has sorted it out. I do need a portable circular saw, and I do need a pair of horses.
