    Default unused bandsaw

my dear old 14" Woodfast has been in storage over 12 months, got a look at it today and groaned realising I had not relased the tension on the blade.

Will that affect anything? Iam afraid of what the snswers might be...

Should be fine I don't release the tension on my 20" never caused any problem, over the 17 years that I have owned it.

I agree with China I don't release the tension either but I have good wheels and rubber.

The tension is never released on the big bandsaw at our Men's Shed as we couldn't get them all to put it back on before using it. Can't say that I've noticed it making any difference compared to my similar bandsaw at home, which I always de-tension after use.
    Stay sharp and stay safe!

Woodfast 14” bandsaws were standard equipment in school workshops for decades.
The tension was never released and it wasn’t designed to be.
    Another modern urban myth.
A local Men’s shed nearby has similar probs re numbys not retensioning.
