I can only think that it might be that flat plate under the spring which is catching on the shaft. Even though you have put a lot of grease on the shaft, if the plate has a sharp edge it could still grab on the shaft especially if it kicks up on any sort of angle.
Outside of that, I have run out of ideas.

I just had a look at your photos again and I don't know if is just the angle the photo was taken on, but the thrust bearing looks like it is on an angle. If it is, it could also be catching on the shaft.

Hello,
Could you highlight the part you're talking about on the picture. I'm not sure to understand clearly which one it is.

I did a search to convert thrust bearing into French and it came up with rapport de poussée. I hope that is close to the correct description.
I have marked up your picture to indicate the item.

Hello,
thanks for the effort on trying to make the translation. Sadly it doesn't mean much to me. But I guess you're pointing the steel part between the vise and the flat black part. In fact it do not touch the u shaped part. But the flat black one does. It put some grease on it and it doesn't improve either. But this part is also pretty loose.
But i have good news. I got some informations from the manufacturer. They will send me for free under warranty a complete tension block including the shaft block and the u shaped part.
I should receive it on monday at the latest. That's a pretty good news. It seems that i won't need to return the old parts so i'll be able to do a comparison to find what was going wrong if the situation is better.
Regards,
Benji

Great news. You must have a good supplier. I hope you can determine the fault once you get your new parts. Hopefully the new one doesn't do the same thing!!!
I just tried another translator and came up with a completely different translation. This one said "palier de butée" Does this one make any sense to you?Last edited by Treecycle; 3rd October 2013 at 02:21 PM. Reason: More info

Hello,
Yes both supplier and manufacturer are good. I've directly contacted manufacturer and they did not ask too many questions for replacement.
Regarding the translation, i did not even know the term in french but I've made some searches and it seems to be the right one. Thanks for pointing this out because i did not event know there were some bearing here. Now i know it seems to be logical.

Hello,
I forgot to give some news. I received the new block last week (in fact a full module including even a new spring )
But sadly it still has some play and i still have the issue. I've been able to make video for the support team of the manufacturer and they agree there is a problem. The guy was pretty cool but he could not see why this occurs. He told me that the block he sent me was previously mounted on the showroom machine that had no issue.
The case has been transfered to the engineers team and i should get some updates very soon.
I'm afraid to have an idea of where the problem could in fact come if it's not the tension block. Maybe the frame of the saw is not rigid enough on this one and when i put tension, a part of it goes to the frame instead of going to the blade and the spring.
Will see what they say soon.
Regards
Benji

Hello,
As promised, here are the last news. Finally, the engineers team can't find the problem. They decided to send me another saw this week and when i'm ready collect the one causing problem. So i'll have all the chances with me to have the best of two.
The only drawbacks are that i'll need to find room to store the both and stay home two times to organize the transport.

Benji

Hello,
As promised, some more news. I received the new bandsaw but sadly it had the same problem.
The after sales team think of a bad series. They will get back to me at the next arrival.
Waiting for this, I found a fix. I used some foils of steel to catch back the play between the two parts of the tension block. It works pretty well when i use the tensionning wheel. The only thing that is not perfect is when i use the quick release mechanism. The tension i get after detensionning and retensionning is not the same. It's not too severe and i can live with that until the new arrival in about one month.
Regards,
Benji
