I wasn't going to but I'm addicted to new toys
I have a very lovely wife who is very understanding about my addiction. Ms. Grunt said that I can spend some money at the WW show this week.
I think I'm going to get a bandsaw. The question is which one.
I'm leaning towards the Hafco BP-16a.
Also, Carba-tec have 3 bandsaws in there cattledog that are in the price range of $699 to $849.
Any advice on experiences, recommendations and any thing else I should know?

If you do turning definately the C/tec BAS-350. And if you don't do woodturning, get a lathe and a BAS-350................you can't go wrong. IMHO the best 14" bandsaw on the planet!
Enjoy the show!

Grunt, I've got the BP-16a and I'm quite pleased with it. Do a search on it because there has been a bit of discussion about them here.

I bought the BAS 350 at the Canberra WW show about a month ago. I got it for $589 - ie $100 off the list price. I purchased on the last day of the show - prior to that they were only $50 off.
I am very happy with it - I am not a turner (well not yet anyway) but it is a very nice bandsaw - cant go wrong.

As others have said, it depends on what you want to use it for.
I bought a Jet 14", it's a very nice machine. The latest model is even better in that it has through the back dust extraction.
You can always get a riser kit for the Taiwanese 14" machines which will allow you to cut up to 12" thick pieces.
I bought the Jet over the Carbatec because to me it appeared to be a better quality machine.

Not wishing to influence you one way or the other but I do like my Hafco BP16A.
16 inch, nice high throat and 2HP for resawing. Nice long blade for better life. Not a bad price, especialy when on special , in comparison to some that only have a 3/4HP motor.

I paid about $630 for mine during the Sydney show (but not AT the show because H&F weren't there this year).

Thanks all,
I think I'll go for the Hafco BP16A. 2hp gives me a woodie.
I've got 14 hours to change my mind. After all this one is pretty stuffed.
