    Default What's wrong with this?

Just pulled it out of the box to fit it for the first time.

    A teaser

    Dumb question or answer,
If its folded correctly, don't the teeth in each circle go different ways????

Not for my saw, it isn't

I have an Inca 340 bandsaw that actually runs in that direction. Most of the blades I buy are folded the wrong way.

Just turn it inside out. Watch out for the spring.

Watson, you might be right; haven't checked, but that ain't the prob here as far as I can see.

    Now it may be a dumb question and as I get older I realise I really know less and less - and that's not just age-related memory loss ;-}

So to be clearer, I got this out, unfolded it and found the problem. Which is nothing to do with how it's coiled.

Ah, Ron and John, you may have it. I'll go out and check.

And maybe avoid making a fool of myself with the supplier, not to mention you guys

    Ahem, embarassed pause.

Yes, it was coiled inside out in the box.

The teeth were pointing upwards; now corrected.

Thanks for your help. Glad I asked.

Then the correct answer is "nothing is wrong with it" - what do I win?

How about an invitation to a turning day?

It had me stumped. And in a weak defence can I say that I've coiled and uncoiled blades many times.

Stood there at the saw ... hmm, the teeth are pointing upwards. Checked the other blades. All good. Hmm, maybe there are left side cutting bandsaws. Must be it. Hmm, it was from Henry Bros. so they would have asked. Hmm, must be a dud. But it was from Henry Bros. so unlikely. Hmmmmmm.

Confession time, Rsser ... the only reason I knew the problem is because the first time it occurred I took the blade back to the guy who made it, complaining it was welded back-to-front. After looking at me funny ... and asking if I had a meatsaw (they must also run anti-clockwise) ... he just flipped it inside-out.

Yeah, thanks Ron. Good to know that I wasn't the only one.

Expect Henry Bros. have had phone calls before of the type I was planning.

Thanks again for helping me avoid the likely sting in their reply.
