bloody hell, I hope I can get the cheap Ryobi mentioned elsewhere,

she decides to use the bigger Woodfast band saw and somehow the plastic bit that goes around the blade on the table, pops out and goes through the blade. What the ell

Its a superseeded model but surely these cant be too hard to purchase but where?
Ive done my head in googling past hour.

I had the same thing happen quite a few years ago. I couldn't get one, then found one somewhere and ordered it, but it was on backorder seemingly forever.

So I simply made one using timber about 5mm or so thick. Once I had an acceptable unit I made a few more for the next time. Been using them ever since, including after eventually receiving the ordered one which if I remember correctly, I had forgotten about.

Pretty easy to do, just need to get the internal taper right, or close enough.

    Mick.

To continue on from Mick’s post, you could make it from aluminium as well, pretty sure BobL as made same from aluminium.

Here we go, found the thread, BS throat plate evolution.
    Cheers

If all else fails find someone with a 3D printer.

Hmmm, looking at BobL's al version, one could 3D print them with all holes as mini BMH shapes hehe. Its a small part which could easily be printed on a resin printer and have a super smooth finish
