Default Woodfast 18" bandsaw & 10" jointer - photos of flyer & what is the blade length?

    Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a second hand Woodfast 18" bandsaw and 10" jointer. Both in awesome condition and working perfectly.

I haven't been able to track down much documentation about these machines but I found someone with copies of the original flyers for the products care of the man @ Northern Machinery in Thornbury, Melbourne. I've attached them here for everyone to see

And the question I have - does anyone know the exact blade length for the 18" bandsaw?

    Thanks,

    Steven.

Set the tension adjustment to a bit less than 50% of its travel. Measure the distance between the centres of the wheels. Measure the diameter of a wheel, including the rubber . The blade length is 3.14 x diameter + twice the centre distance.

Or call Woodfast in Adelaide. Someone there will probably know.

Is this what you're after, Steve, or am I missing something:

    Woodfast 18 inch Bandsaw Blades.JPG

(From the flyer you attached. 130.5" / 3314.7mm)

Hah - hermit - thank you. you know - I read that flyer twice and was confused as to why they weren't including details of the blade length! Thanks

Using the method proposed I found that the spaces between the wheels was around 900mm and the wheel diameter was 480mm... resulting in a blade length of around 3300mm.

Excellent. I was going to suggest that you use Avery's method to verify the length, but you've already done that. Sounds like you're good to go.

Be aware that the blademakers that you will deal with have tolerances in there work. they will not be interested in 3314.7 mm. 130 inches will do them just fine.

and of course it is not all that critical, a couple of inches either way should make no difference.

I'd like to have an 18" bandsaw. Nice. If you have access who custom made band saw blades, then you don't have to worry in getting the exact length.
