Woodfast 18 inch & 14 inch
Hello! It's been a pleasure joining this forum which I've just found out about it recently. This section has given me a lot of information on bandsaws here in australia since i'm in the market for one. My heartful thanks to the members for their helpful infos, comments and personal reviews of such a wonderful machine.
Now I'm looking for an 18 or 14 inch bandsaw for the piles of h/w planks and beams (from India) which I've stored and dried for a year and a half already. I had used an old cast iron 18er back in Philippines... well to get straight to the point, i've stumbled upon this woodfast bandsaw from timbecon (rikon owns rights to this name now, i think) and i thought there's a huge price difference compared to the new Jet 18inch. well the new rikon 18er which is similar to the woodfast in timbecon has received good reviews from american magazines compared to the Jet 18er.
Just want to know if anyone has come across with the woodfast 18er or the 14er(8 inch cutting height as per timbecon website, is it so? that will be lovely!) since i'm only gonna cut up to 8 inch wide veneers. Any info is very much appreciated. Thank you.

The woodfast 18 is a BAS470 with very few extras, mainly CE compliance.
Im not real happy with the quality of the BAS470, still a good servicable unit tho.....................................................................

I purchased a new 20'' woodfast a few months back, I was not very happy with it, lots of things just not quite right I have sold the saw. I now use a genuine woodfast bandsaw 30 plus years old that I have rebuilt.
