Woodfast Bandsaw
I had pretty much made up my mind to buy a JET 14'"deluxe bandsaw (or the more serious Powermatic) but was most impressed with the Woodfast product shown at the Melbourne Woodshow.
I personally found the gaudy Woodfast yellow paint colour a complete turn-off. But I really liked the engineering count of the product ie large generous bed, precision roller blade guides, quality fence and mitre gauge. And yes a really decent motor to drive the thing. The re-saw capability was also better than the JET/Powermatic at over 200mm........ And it even included a light (BS350). Overall build quality and finish was excellent.
Some lucky person picked up the "show special" at $850.00..........fully optioned. Yep he who hesitates is lost........The 18" beast was even more impressive at around $1600....
It seems that in the past Woodfast have made some really good quality Australian made products - but I notice few Forum users seem to mention this gear .......... why not??
I suspect a lot of their older suff is industrial and 415volt - and most of us are using single phase???

woodfast products of the past are very good, there are many woodfast machines in use today that were made 30+ years ago and are still going strong. The new bandsaws are chinese made but with custom specs from woodfast I had trouble with the one I purchased, but I tracked the problems to very rough handling by the freight company who I will not use again. If the new generation woodfast machines live up to the old reputation then they will exelent machines only time will tell

Warmtone as you indicated the old gear is highly respected, the new range coming out of china has only been on the market a very short time and they have not promoted themselves too much at this stage so there will not be a lot of their gear out there just yet.

G'day all,
I purchased the 18" Woodfast at the Adelaide wood show, I love it and cannot fault it, but being my first BS I have owned and only having used a few at school etc. I am no expert on BS's
I did study the Woodfast and the Timbecon model as Timbecon had them side by side at the show and you can plainly tell they were made in the same place, but I liked the look of the Woodfast table, Paint job!? and inexplicably the Woodfast had a larger cut height.. 300mm compared to Timbecons roughly 285mm? The door switches some people hate and think unnecessary, but with future grandkids etc. why take any chances! Even though I do lock out my machines when finished, I might forget one day!The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

Hi all,
I see not much has been said about Woodfast bandsaws recently (these are quite old posts I have found). Anyone with updated opinions on their machines? I am considering them alongside Carbatech BS345, Hare and Forbes BP355, and Leda BS350. Any advice most welcome!!!
Thanks
