I picked up the motor today at hare & forbes. I installed into the bandsaw with no problems, double checked all the things I know of and put on my safety glasses and ear muffs and then standing at the power point turned it on. It sprung to life the blade spinning smoothly. I then stooped it readjusted the guide blocks and push wheel. then started it again. Took a piece of wood and did a test cut. The blade is blunt so it was ejecting burnt dust however it cuts fine. Then suddenly the pierce of wood jumped up, confused I stopped the machine only to notice that the blade is spinning up, not down, pulling the work off the bed.
I now need to pull the motor out of the base and switch the electric cables around on a box that sits on top of the motor and according to the website this will cause the motor to spin in the direction I need it to go.
With luck I should have the machine running true by the end of the day.

Lucky you got one that is reversible. Its not normally that easy on a standard single phase motor.
Hopefully you will have it up and running very soon, and enjoying your purchase finally.

The good news is that the blade will cut better when it is going in the right direction!

Is there a diagram under the lid of the box, or perhaps a wiring diagram that came with the motor.
When I replaced my 3ph motor to single I also had it spinning the wrong way. It was a fairly simple matter of swapping some internal wires around but the motor came with a diagram to show how to do it.Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Fixed- I ran around chasing my tale only to find that the answer was under the lid right in front of me, just as stinkallot suggested. All I had to do was swap two cables around. My motor is now running in the right direction. The band saw cuts well, straight and true. Did a practice cut and a make shift ply fence works well.
I am salivating at the thought of what I can do now since I can break down material. I purchased a small amount of NZ Red Beech today and will be making a pair of Scandinavian work stands over the holiday. With enough material left for a small wall hung cabinet.
Thank you for all your advice. Now I need to purchase a safety switch and maybe I will consider giving the machine a new coat of paint in time.
Any suggestion about what is the best way of removing the old paint?
The machine vibrates a little I think its not sitting dead flat on the concrete floor would a rubber mat under the base dampen those vibrations?

I had a better chance to play with the bandsaw today doing a bunch of ruff re-sawing.
The blade is not that bad. However it drifts badly and will need probably need replacement. I have made a make shift ply fence, however I did not have time to set up the fence to account for drift tomorrows task.
The dust is a huge problem, I do not have any dust collection ability at the moment. I had to stop the machine and brush it out.
Any suggestions for a cheap dust solution that can be fitted to the bandsaw?
The only problem I had today was that the blade kept drifting to the front of the rubber and I reset the guide block and the pushed backwards and this seemed to fix the problem.

Depending on what you are planning to do with your bandsaw it may be worth reading up on pivot fences. Not suitable for all situation but it may be something useful to have up your sleeve.
